To consider whether, in view of the business to be transacted or the nature of the proceedings, the press and public should be excluded from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds that, if the public and press were present, there would be disclosure to them of exempt information. Minutes:

RESOLVED: That agenda item no. 28 be exempt under paragraph 1 of Part 1 Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 as amended by the Local Government (Access to Information) (Variation) Order 2006 and accordingly are not open for public inspection on the following grounds: they contain information relating to any individual.

Panel Interviews and appointment to the post of Deputy Chief Fire Officer

Minutes:

There were six candidates shortlisted for the post of Deputy Chief Fire Officer.  The Principal Officer Appointments Panel interviewed each Candidate, receiving a presentation, followed up by questions from the Panel.  The Panel considered the results of the other assessments undertaken, including a Stakeholder Panel interview with key partners, staff forum, command assessment and motivational assessment.

 

RESOLVED – The Principal Officer Appointments Panel agreed:

 

      i.        That the first choice candidate be offered appointment to the post of Deputy Chief Fire Officer, subject to satisfactory references and other pre-employment checks being obtained.

 

     ii.        That the appointment decisions be made public on completion of the necessary pre-employment checks; and

 

    iii.        That, in the event that the preferred candidate be unable to take up to post an employment offer be made to the second-choice candidate.
